UB coordinates with embassies regarding foreign students being swept away by the waves, CIMSA

Universitas Brawijaya (UB) conducted intensive coordination with slot gacor the embassies of the countries of origin of the two foreign medical students from the medical faculty (FK) who had a sea accident (dragged by the waves) on Jembatan Panjang Beach, Malang Regency, East Java, Saturday (8/7).

“We have coordinated with the embassies of the countries of origin of the two foreign students, namely Spain and Switzerland,” said the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya (FK UB), Dr. Wisnu Barlianto when stating Malang.

The wave swept away the two students with foreign national status (WNA): ABR, a female, a 24-year-old Spanish national, and a 24-year-old Swiss national, JOS.

Meanwhile, the waves swept the other three victims away, namely M, B, and P, who were tour guides from a group of UB FK students. The activity was attended by 29 participants, 17 foreigners, and 12 Indonesian citizens.

The group departed from Malang City on Friday (7/7) and arrived at the Jembatan Panjang Panti at around 17.30 WIB.

At Long Bridge Beach, the group stayed overnight using the tents that had been prepared. The next day, Saturday (8/7), some students in the group swam at Jembatan Panjang Beach.

However, when the international students swam, they couldn’t pull over and got stuck in the middle of the island. At that time, three other people, M, B, and P, intended to help the two foreigners. However, a big wave came, and they were all swept away by the waves.

Furthermore, Wisnu said that apart from coordinating intensively with the embassies the international students came from, the campus had sent an Emergency Disaster team to join the police and Basarnas team at the scene.

Wisnu said that UB’s FK has and will always try hard and continue to coordinate with Basarnas and the police team at the location to find victims.

Furthermore, Wisnu said the two foreign student victims were carrying out a student exchange program at UB, one of the Center for International Student Association (CIMSA) activities.

The implementation of CIMSA activities at UB Medical Faculty is coordinated by the Medical Students Committee for International Affairs (MSCIA) UB Medical Faculty under the vice dean for student affairs.

“We ask for prayers from the community and all parties so that the search and evacuation process will be facilitated so that the two students and the three tour guides who were swept away by the waves can be found safely slot88,” said Wisnu.
