OUR MISSION

Sun River Health (SRH) is a network of 43 Federally Qualified Health Centers across Hudson Valley, New York City, and Long Island. Established by four African American mothers in 1975, SRH continues to fulfill its original promise by offering comprehensive primary healthcare, preventative healthcare services, and behavioral healthcare to all, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.

SRH’s mission is to provide patients with the care they deserve with respect, made possible through generous support from donors, partners, and volunteers. Their regular contributions play a critical role in our stewardship of donated resources; donors have the right to be informed of our mission and purposes and who serves on our governing board; they should expect us to exercise responsible judgment when exercising our stewardship responsibilities.

At SRH, a diverse workforce of over 2,000 physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, and healthcare professionals come together to form an efficient healthcare system that provides high-quality, culturally competent healthcare at an affordable cost. Additionally, the organization strives to be an active member of its local community, advocating against health disparities and increasing racial equity.

Sun River Health was established in 1975 as a not-for-profit corporation and is tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Its governing board comprises individuals from Suffolk, Rockland, Westchester, Dutchess, Ulster Columbia, and Sullivan Counties, and donations are tax-deductible. Established by four African American mothers in 1975 in Peekskill to ensure equitable healthcare access for all regardless of race, background, or ability to pay, Sun River Health was set up as a non-for-profit in 1975 in Peekskill to serve all who needed access regardless of race background or ability to pay.

SRH seeks a Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to advocate for decreasing health disparities and increasing racial equity within their local community. The CMO will work closely with the senior leadership team and hospital affiliates to ensure continuity of care while contributing to value-based contracts with payers and ensuring compliance with clinical protocols and safety standards at local, regional, and national levels.
