The Moody Learning Center provides access to various student life activities such as club sports, student organizations, and social development. It is also home to the campus library.
Moody was immediately concerned for his family when the city fire bells started ringing in Chicago on October 8, 1871. Moody took every precaution possible to make sure his loved ones remained safe.
The Office of Student Life
Whether it may be student clubs, sports teams, or concerts – every person can find a place to connect with the world outside the classroom. A new campus center will provide spaces for mentoring services, community events, and cultural shows, allowing students to expand their experiences of living in an inspiring and vibrant city.
The Office of Student Life strives to create an inviting and supportive space for students of all backgrounds and encourages engagement with campus, Houston, and the broader world beyond. Staff is on hand to support students as they navigate the ups and downs of college life while discovering their form of success.
Academic policies can be found in the Student Handbook and at the Student Learning Assistance Center Lab (SLAC). The SLAC Lab features workstations, study pods, workshops, and reserved rooms for group study sessions; its hours of operation range from Monday through Thursday between 7:30 a.m. and 8 pm and Fridays between 8:00 a.m. and 1 pm.
Alli serves as Assistant Dean for Student Life. She co-advises the Judicial Branch of the Student Governing Association and adjudicates student policy-related issues. Alli has worked in this area of Student Affairs for several years; her Bachelor’s in Health Science from Ball State University and Master’s degree in Counselor Education from Clemson University prove this expertise. Her passion lies in creating a supportive campus culture while helping students successfully navigate college life.
The Student Learning Assistance Center Lab
The Student Learning Assistance Center Lab offers students a comfortable environment to study alone or with others, use computers and printers for homework, attend tutor-led workshops to develop test-taking strategies and techniques, and access professional tutoring services and peer tutoring – all free!
Moody Library’s seventh-floor Laboratory features computer workstations, study pods, and reserved rooms for group studies, workshops, and tutoring on a range of subjects (from correcting comma splices to studying for graduate (GRE), law (LSAT) and business school admission tests – as well as being home for the Veteran Academic Success Center, a holistic tutoring and advising initiative tailored specifically towards military-connected students).
The LAC is staffed by education specialists, professional tutors, and peer tutors who offer individual and small-group instruction. Students enrolled in most courses may schedule two appointments per week with these tutors/facilitators of the lab – this does not include Math Cafe visits, which are open to all.

The Writing Center
The Writing Center at Moody Learning Center helps students become confident writers. Offering one-on-one peer tutoring and writing reference resources, its location in room two hundred provides convenient services Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 pm. To arrange an appointment, students should call Moody’s office directly while remembering to bring assignments or class notes when meeting with staff members.
This seven-story 188,000 sqft building contains classroom space and research facilities. The Moody Center stands as an iconic symbol on campus. Including student counseling services, veteran and disability outreach programs, coffee bar services, and technology help desk services, its presence proves its usefulness and value to its students.

The Library
The Library at Moody is an academic and research center that offers students access to various information services and resources, such as books, DVDs, and archives that detail Dwight Lyman Moody’s life story.
The new library boasts a self-serve carousel that makes borrowing and returning books as convenient as shopping at grocery or department stores. Furthermore, flexible study spaces and meeting areas, as well as technology support through HelpDesk+, are provided at this library.
At the heart of the campus lies a 188,000-square-foot building, which serves as a home for the main campus library. Conceived as a four-floored “building within a building,” its four floors house classroom space, research facilities, computer labs, student counseling services, and veteran and disability outreach programs – not to mention three Rare Book Collection rooms!
Students are invited to bring their laptops and tablets to the Library to take advantage of its Wi-Fi services and digital resources, including online databases that students can use for research. Blinn students also participate in TexShare, which allows them to borrow books from libraries across Texas.
